Where the trees are (and arent')



This map reveals the state of the remaining forests in the U.S. Go to the NASA website and click on the map to enlarge it and you can take a close look at Maine (my native state) and the Pacific Northwest, where forests are heavily fragmented by industrial clearcutting. Compare most of the Northwest to the dense, unbroken forest canopy of Olympic National Park, which shows those forests in their natural state.
